If you happened to be in Cebu for a tour or just looking for a weekend get-away but on a tight budget, then this is for you. I'll be sharing some tips to enjoy this majestic place without shedding too much on your pockets.
Kawasan falls Cebu is a must see attraction while you’re in town where you can enjoy a three-tiered turquoise crystal clear waterfalls, astonishing views of natural and man made landscapes and a Rushing ice cool water to awaken your senses. but to be honest, dont set your expectations to high specially on holidays it’s difficult to enjoy it when you have hundreds of selfie junkies and rude tourist to share it with. kawasan is situated in the southwest part of Cebu and about a three hour bus ride, Kawasan Falls is located in Barangay Matutinao, Badian. Kawasan Falls is the most popular tourist destination in town, visited by both foreign and local tourists.
How to get there
1. Take a bus from South Bus Terminal. Bus fares usually range P130 – P150each vice versa. Make sure to take the bus for Bato via Barili and inform the conductor or the bus driver to drop you off at the jumping point to Kawasan Falls.
2. If your using a private vehicle. Here’s a map of the location of Kawasan Falls. It can be a good idea to have it marked on google maps on your phone. Click Here While on your way there you can drop by the barili milk station for some refreshing dairy products.
Having your own private vehicle does have its advatages. I would suggest you leave early in the morning To save precious time. Going to Badian you can pass by Moal-Boal where beautiful beaches are located. If you have all the time in the world u can stop by and take a dip in the crystal clear waters or take selfies in the scenic white sand beaches. In my case we took a quick stop at Gaisano Moal-Boal for a quick lunch and some needed supplies and food.
Where to stay?
There are nearby cheaper Hostels outside kawasan falls, I would personally recommend to stay in La Playa Beach resort. for only P1500 overnight stay in air conditioned room fronting the beach. the place is easily accessible and its along the National highway
Things to Do
Uppon arrival in badian, i would recomend to stop by the Badian Public market for some fresh meat and sea food since kawasan is 15-30 mins away from the mainland and its simply cheaper in the market.
Enjoy the view while on the trail. take instagram worthy photos, If you’re the adventurous type, you shouldn’t miss out on some canyoneering while visiting this place. Along the way to kawasan you see billboards advertising canyoneering tour packages A pre-booked canyoneering tour is around P1,500-P1,700 don’t hesitate to contact a tour company before, or when you arrive.
Swimming in the turquoise water
Kawasan Falls entrance fee: 40 pesos
From the entrance you will have to walk uphill to get to the first waterfall. Along the way, you can see souvenir shops selling accessories. Uppon arrival you will see The first waterfall which is the largest of the three, and is usually the most crowded. An uphill climb for fifteen minutes will take you to the second falls, and another, and another. Its a good idea to bring in your own food, the resort’s restaurants are not cheap You can rent a raft for P300 to take you around for a shower massage or taking instagram worthy selfies under the falling water. Life vests are also available for rent for P50.
Watching the sunset by the beach
after a days activity, slow down the time at the beach and watch the sun as it sets while enjoying a bottle of beer and a sumptuous barbecue at the shore, share good laughs and enjoy each others company.
